To serve as a liaison between the member and the credit union and to professionally handle member's financial needs including, but not limited to, new memberships, account maintenance requests, consumer loans, real estate loans, credit and debit maintenance, debit fraud processing, and IRA account opening and maintenance. In addition, the Sr Member Service role provides support and assists the operations manager in the supervision of the teller line, cash management activities and to solve member problems and help with complex work-related matters. Employee must provide support in general ledger postings and balancing. Must also perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties in the preparation of reports, procedures, member correspondence and other communications. Utilize a range of computer applications, daily operating systems and Microsoft office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively interact with both members and staff is critical.
  • Must maintain a professional and positive attitude and demeanor towards all members at all times.
  • Respond to member requests, problems, and complaints, and resolve issues.
  • Open new accounts and service existing accounts. Set up new account files and provide members with all necessary information for membership.
  • Interview, process, disburse and close all consumer loans.
  • Interview, process, disburse and close all home equity loans.
  • Manage the share draft and ACH activities including, but not limited to proofing, posting and managing returns.
  • Order all Visa and Debit Cards, post and process all visa payments and handle inquiries and problems. Manage both products under the direction of the Operation Manager.
  • Manage member reported debit card fraud by receiving and submitting fraud claims and processing and maintaining provisional credits applied to member accounts.
  • Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that are obtained from member interviews and/or review of member's account. Actively cross-sell products.
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager in general ledger postings, maintenance and balancing procedures on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Maintain knowledge on all credit union products and services and credit union rules and regulations.
  • Assist members in opening IRA accounts and processing IRA transactions.
  • Assist Operations Manager in supervision of teller area.
  • Assist tellers as required with member questions or any transactional question needs clarification.
  • Assist Operation Manager to serve as vault teller for the credit union, which includes ordering the cash, verifying cash received, filling teller cash orders, maintaining full vault security, and balancing vault cash nightly.
  • Ensure loans, including real estate loans meet requirements of policies, procedures and documents meet federal and state regulations.
  • Utilize credit union procedures and computer applications that may include e-mail, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, database and system software.
  • Perform secretarial and office clerical duties as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of all state and federal regulations that are applicable to the federal and state regulations.
  • Provide confidential, professional support for the management of the credit union.
  • Assist Operations Manager or the CEO/Manager in a variety of duties as needed.

Requirements/Skills Needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • At least two years of customer service experience, ideally within a financial institution.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in using personal computers in a Windows environment, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) is mandatory, and registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) must be maintained.
  • Flexibility in work hours is necessary, along with a strong track record of reliability and dependability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately is required.
